Yiddish Culture
These films celebrate the rich cultural heritage that originated in Eastern Europe and migrated to the United States in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. As seen in the writings of Isaac Bashevis Singer and newspaperman Abraham Cahan, the performances of Molly Picon, the spirited Klezmer interpretations of Itzhak Perlman, and the radical political beliefs of many immigrant Jews, the legacy of this culture is such that today it still influences the worlds of art, music, and politics.
