A Film Group Guide

Why Join a Film Group?

Film groups blend entertainment and education, giving people an opportunity to make new friends while participating in thought-provoking discussions. The Jewish Heritage Video Collection, with its range of films and educational courses, is particularly well-adapted for such groups.

This guide is intended to help people start and support a film group using the unique resources of the JHVC. It consists of three sections:

Starting a Film Group—What needs to be done to get your group up and running.

Maintaining a Film Group—How to keep your group well-organized and successful.

Series for Film Group Discussions—A selection of JHVC titles, organized by themes and supported with dialogue-provoking questions.

Good luck and happy viewing!

This guide is based on Precious Images, Provocative Conversations: A Handbook for Film Groups, by Peter Broderick. The handbook is available at all JHVC sites.
