ABBA EBAN, Israel's eloquent spokesman, brilliantly represented his country before the world. Israel's first representative to the United Nations, during the 1950s he served simultaneously as ambassador to the United States—the youngest (at age 35) to hold such a post. In 1966 he became Foreign Minister of Israel.
Eban's masterful oratory was at the core of his distinguished career. A new CD collection, Great Speeches of Abba Eban, brings together his major addresses before the United Nations, each marking a crucial time in history:
- The War of Independence (1948)
- Admission to the United Nations (1949)
- The Sinai Campaign (1956)
- The Six-Day War (1967)
Each speech, as well as the collection itself, is introduced by Walter Cronkite. A study guide included with the CD provides background on Abba Eban and Israeli history and historical context for each speech.
Great Speeches of Abba Eban received major funding from Abigail and Leslie Wexner and the Wexner Foundation and was produced by the Jewish Media Fund.
The CD is distributed by New Video and can be ordered here or by calling 1-800-314-8822.
