About the JHVC

The JHVC was created to explore Jewish heritage
through the unique resources of film and television. The Collection, available at more than 200 sites nationwide, provides courses and a video library that address vital issues of Jewish history, identity, and culture.

The JHVC is a project of the Jewish Media Fund,
a nonprofit organization formed in 1982 to further Jewish education through film and television. The Fund supported the creation of Rechov Sumsum, the Israeli Sesame Street, and its adaptation for American television as Shalom Sesame. In addition, the Fund has supported the Elie Wiesel series, Great Figures of the Bible, the Russian translation of Heritage: Civilization and the Jews, and the development of educational materials to accompany the series Israel: A Nation is Born, with Abba Eban.
